Brian Stauffacher caught this 12 pound mackinaw in February 2006 at Priest Lake in 120 feet of water using a downrigger. "I used a blue and red Flatfish (size f-40) tipped with a piece of fresh cut bait. Troll very slowly just enough to get the lure to move back and fourth. Troll back and fourth across any underwater point or hump. Adding a little shrimp scent to the lure also helps. Dragging the downrigger balls through the sand is a must. I think it stirs up the sand and releases the Mysis shrimp that the Mack's feed on. It makes a constant "food trail" for them to follow. Good luck, Brian"
