Lake Lowell in the Spring
Lake Lowell is a shallow reservoir three miles south of Nampa, Idaho.
The Lake covers approximately 10,000 acres and is 38 feet deep at its
deepest point. Much of the shoreline is weedy and wooded, providing much
cover and habitat for fishermen looking for Bass. Both Largemouth and Smallmouth
can be found here. Bluegill fishing is also great here!
The lake warms up in the summer and fishing slows in the mid-summer as the fish
seek the deeper water. The fishing is open year round. There are motor
restrictions in the winter. Lake Lowell is open to motorized boats
April 15, thru September 30.
The Fish
Largemouth Bass, Smallmouth Bass, Crappie, Bluegill, Perch,
Bullhead, Channel Catfish.
Bass: Fish the south side where flooded timber and smart weed occur. Fish
5 to 7 feet of water. Use flipping baits in the brush piles. Throw spinner baits
at the weed lines. Buzz baits on top. Bass range 2 to 4 pounds typically.
Regulations for Bass require catch and release between Jan 1 and June 30.
July 1 to Dec 31 - do not keep fish between 12 and 16 inches.

Caught two nice largemouths off the North shore. One 16 and the other 17 inches.
Also caught a few nice bluegill. Worms for bluegill around structure.
A 2 inch Watermelon seed Zoom Tube about 10-15 feet off shore worked well for bass.

Bluegill-panfish rig-nightcrawler pieces or meal worms;
place meal worm on top hook, nightcrawler piece on bottom one; caught 9 1/2"
bluegill on meal worm! Morning fishing sucks; later afternoon first part evening
works best
as water is warmer for bluegill; Cast 5-20' off shore for shallower water.

Water Temp: 63-67°
Fished for a few hours this evening and caught
2 smallies and 4 largemouth bass. THey were all 1-2 lbs and tight to
cover. Smallmouth on rocky banks with concrete structure and largemouth
back in the weeds around the beaver dams. Caught fish on a crankbait, jig-n-pig,
spinner bait and a Pop-R. In my opinion, a successful
trip to Lowell - especially after the rain yesterday cooled the water back off.

Come on you fishermen over there at Lake Lowell, help the lady out. Send in a few tips
for fishing off the bank at Lake Lowell! (Editor)
Name: Fast Ed
Date: year around
Fishing Tip: for fishing gal, if you are fishing from the bank,
a carolina rig works well with a 6" green pumpkin lizard.
I am a fan of the Chomper brand. If you can get out onto the reservoir,
the trees hold all the big bass. Flipping 4" to 6" tubes into the rear of
the tree, or bush pile. You will need a pretty heavy line, atleast 20lb test.
Spinner baits work well on the outskirts of the tree sections,
standard chartruse & white with tandem colorado blades. Hope this helps. :o)
Thanks Fast Ed! (Editor)
