The Lake
Island Park Reservoir is a fairly shallow lake in Eastern Idaho. Near Harriman State Park.
The area is fairly remote and teams with wildlife.
Just watching the various animals and birds can be an experience.
The lake is not very deep. Fly fishers as well as bait fishermen like this lake.
There is an abundance of aquatic life in the waters. Float tubers like to fish the "fingers".
The trout fishery is good with many 4 pounders netted.
Numerous chubs are said to be a problem.
In years of drought there are draw downs which can cut into the fishing, especially from boats.
Get to this reservoir at either end. Come in from McCrea's Bridge on Shotgun Valley Rd.
A boat and motor is required to access the lake downstream from this point.
Or access the west end via Green Canyon Rd. south of the Osborne Bridge.
The Fish
Rainbow Trout and Chubs inhabit these waters.
